The name Turquoise seems to come from the Turks. The earliest use of Turquoise was in Egypt; they mined it Sinai.
It was mentioned as having mystical powers and was used in the art figures and ornaments. They also used to grind it up to use
in their cosmetics as eye shadow.
In India it was used in art, medicine, and jewelry. In Tibet every Tibetan carried or wore a piece of turquoise all their life.
In North and South America the stone was used in religion, art, trade, and treaty negotiations as well as for jewelry. It was considered
to be associated with life itself.
Turquoise’ many attributes include: it was thought to prevent injury through accident; prevent blindness, by placing on the eyes or
ground into a slave and as a powder. It was ingested to cure stomach disorders, internal bleeding, and stings from snakes and scorpions.
It was good for almost any ailment including insanity.
The turquoise stones' colors could forecast the good or bad, predict the weather and influence dreams. The color of turquoise can
vary from deep blue to deep green with every variation in between. Generally the more copper in the molecule, the bluer the turquoise.
Iron in the stone makes it greener. More moisture will also cause turquoise to turn greener in color.
The Aztecs mined turquoise in an area now known as New Mexico and a significant amount of turquoise comes from Arizona, California
and Nevada in the United States. Turquoise has been of interest to even early man. In the Western hemisphere, the stone was found
in the burial sites of prehistoric peoples. Turquoise is known to be popular trade item because it was found hundreds of miles away

Goldstone is a manmade glass with tiny copper dots visible throughout the stone. A special process is needed to create
the stone's metallic gleam. Copper salts are added to brown liquid glass. The mass of glass is then held at a specific temperature
for a length of time, and then the entire mass is allowed to cool. As the glass cools, the salts turn into copper crystals, giving
the stone that unique sparkle. Goldstone reportedly originated with monks trying to make gold out of other materials (alchemy).
The secret was kept for years until the Chinese, it is said, discovered how to make the gemstone. Nowadays, the best examples come
from China.
Goldstone is believed to store the energy of those who touch it, making it an excellent gift for loved ones who are far away. It is
also considered a good deflector of unwanted energies, and is highly regarded in the spirit realm as a protection mineral. Mystics
use it as a nervous-system stimulant to enhance transmission of healing energies from the hands; therefore it is used for long-distance
healing. The copper within goldstone makes it extremely helpful in the areas of inflammation and increasing one’s blood flow. It is
believed to be a powerful energy generator.
