Did you know? Keshi pearls are generally small in size and, because there was no nucleus to guide the ultimate shaping of the pearl,
their shapes vary widely. Due to their solid-nacre composition they have an especially lustrous and shimmering surface quality.
In fact, most Keshi pearls have a greater luster than the best-quality cultured pearls. However, because Keshi pearls are 100% nacre,
they are not classified as natural pearls.
The word Keshi means “poppy seed” in Japanese; sometimes these pearls are referred to as “poppy seed pearls”.
