Which phrase is correct? Cultured pearl necklaces or Freshwater pearl Necklaces?
Today cultured – freshwater pearl necklaces is more accurate. That’s because order to keep up with demand - freshwater and saltwater pearls are “cultured” meaning – pearl farmers induce the creation of pearls
by inserting a foreign object in a mollusk or oyster and wait several years to see the results.
Any pearl that is grown and marketed today are considered cultured pearls.
This is because these pearls would not exist without human intervention.
In designing cultured – freshwater pearl necklaces the hardest part has been deciding which pearl to choose.
There are so many types of pearls available – baroque, ovals, potatoes, button shapes, Keshi and Biwas.
Then they come is so many colors...naturally white, cream, greens, blues, pinks and they have even come up with chocolate! We thought we should use them all to create an endless variety of cultured – freshwater pearl necklaces. After all, the only limit on using cultured – freshwater pearls is our imagination,
and we are just warming up our ideas on designing cultured – freshwater pearl necklaces.
